Although Major League Baseball recognized and acknowledged the very, very high level baseball pitching-performance produced by Josh Outman during his 2004 collegiate baseball season while pitching a baseball on the vertical plane employing Outman Methodology™, nevertheless, during the June, 2004 amateur entry draft Major League Baseball also rejected (refused to draft) Josh Outman because of his physical appearance while consistently producing that very, very high level baseball pitching-performance on the mound.
When very, very high level performance relative to the intended purpose is produced, physical appearance should never be a consideration whether in reference to a piece of equipment, a machine, a tool, a device, a process...or even a person...especially a person.
Only physical sciences illiteracy can explain noticing, obsessing over and focusing to the point of distraction on physical appearance, because inextricably associated with physical sciences illiteracy is ignorance of the meaning, the context and the ramifications of the phrase: "Form follows function."
No individual sufficiently educated in, knowledgeable of and understanding about the physical sciences and fully comprehending of the meaning, the context and the ramifications of the phrase "form follows function" would ever reject a piece of equipment, a machine, a tool, a device, a process or a person (especially a person) solely on the basis of physical appearance when otherwise very, very high level performance for the intended purpose is produced.
In the sport of baseball, performance (which can be easily observed) trumps all!
Major League Baseball (and at least 99% of all baseball fans and participants) is categorically unqualified scientifically to evaluate, to judge Outman Methodology™ relative to mechanics. If that wasn't true, then, in reference to Josh Outman, physical appearance would absolutely have been a non issue during the June, 2004 amateur entry draft, as well as before and beyond.
Conversely, Major League Baseball (and 100% of baseball fans and participants) is qualified empirically (visually, observably, demonstrably) to evaluate, to judge Outman Methodology™ on the basis of performance.
Outman Methodology™ for pitching a baseball on the vertical plane unarguably produces and demonstrates consistently very, very high level baseball pitching-performance on the mound, which Major League Baseball recognized and acknowledged well over a decade ago during the June, 2004 amateur entry draft.
Had Major League Baseball stuck to what it was qualified empirically to evaluate, to judge (which qualification to evaluate, to judge is strictly limited to performance) during the June, 2004 amateur entry draft instead of choosing to reject Josh Outman and Outman Methodology™ because of physical appearance (which requires physical sciences literacy to be enabled a: to focus on performance, b: to ignore physical appearance and c: to be enabled to recognize and to acknowledge mechanical superiority), then, both of my sons, Josh and Zach Outman, would not have been deprived of the opportunity to pitch a baseball to the best of their individual ability at the professional level.
In the present, had Outman Methodology™ not been effectively banned by Major League Baseball since June, 2004 by reason of Major League Baseball's illiterate rejection of it on the basis of physical appearance, additional tens-of-thousands of baseball pitchers since June, 2004:
a) would not have been deprived of the opportunity to discover to the limits of their individual ability for pitching a baseball and
b) would not have been unnecessarily and altogether avoidably subjected to the high probability of suffering a baseball-pitching-career interrupting, diminishing or truncating injury to the pitching-arm.
Shame on Major League Baseball for its collective egregious, ignorance-begotten error in judgment in rejecting Josh Outman and Outman Methodology™ during the June, 2004 amateur entry draft on the basis of physical appearance and for failing, to this date, to rectify that collective egregious, ignorance-begotten error in judgment!
